What’s the difference between Accounting Software and Bookkeeping Software?
Accounting Software is designed to provide an accurate measure of the profitability of the business – but this will only be the case if you are using its full potential, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation etc. If you are not doing this it is pointless using Accounting Software for your bookkeeping as this will only cause unnecessary complications in its set-up and running, as well as causing headaches for your accountant who will have to work out each year’s “closing journals” for you to enter.
Far better to utilise Bookkeeping Software which is easy to use and concentrates solely on balancing your bank and cash (plus sales ledger and purchase ledger if needed), doing your VAT and recording the basic analysis of your payments and receipts. More enables your bookkeeping data to be transferred over the internet to the accountant’s office. Let your accountant worry about all the accounting adjustments that are needed when preparing either Management Accounts or Year End Accounts.
I have never “done the books” before. Will I be able to use More?
We now have many small business proprietors using More to do their bookkeeping – having no previous experience of bookkeeping. You don’t have to worry, More is simple to use.
I currently use spreadsheets for my bookkeeping. Why should I go through the effort of changing over to More?
It is surprising how many errors can creep into even the most simple of spreadsheets over time. More doesn’t allow such errors – and if you wish you can export the More pages to Excel for further analysis.
More also gives you the facility of running off a number of useful reports for specified periods – You will never have this level of management information from your spreadsheets.
When you say you will set More up for me, what do you mean?
Based on our knowledge of your business, we will tailor the way the bookkeeping appears on your PC to your exact requirements.
You won’t have to worry about fiddling with any settings. When you receive your More software it will be ready to go. Your unique version of More will already have been set up for your own business, eg:

Does More have Sales Ledger and Purchase ledger functions?
Yes – but only if you need these functions. If your business is very small, you will only need to do your books on a receipts and payments basis (or Money In and Money Out, as More calls it).
If your business has many suppliers and customers, we will set up More for you so that it includes a Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger.
What reports can I get from More?
You can get a summary of Receipts and Payments by month for the last 12 months, breakdowns of Income and Expenditure over periods, profit and loss account, aged debtors and creditors, bank reconciliation, VAT Reports…to name but a few.
Plenty of reports to enable you to monitor your business, but nothing too complicated.

If the software is so good, and you are going to do so much for me, how come you can give it away free?
There are three reasons why we give "More" away for free to Hampshire business owners*:
1. The software integrates with our back office systems and saves us time as well as you.
2. Part of the deal is that you keep your books up to date and send the information to us quickly after the year-end. This helps us with our workflow.
3. We pay for "More" from our marketing budget because it allows us to add value to our service so we have more to offer than our competitors. We also hope users will tell their friends, colleagues and business associates so we win more clients.
* The software, with all its functionality, video tutorials, facility for online backup, management information, set up, is completely free. However, we do make an annual charge for support and online back-up. This modest annual charge is only £1 per week for non-VAT registered businesses and £2 per week for VAT registered businesses – payable annually in advance. However, this is more than offset by the value of the added services we can deliver each year – made possible by the efficiencies generated by using “More”. And these are the valuable, higher level services you want, such as business planning and tax planning.
I already have a bookkeeper. Can he/she use More?
Yes, of course. Your bookkeeper will love using More because it is designed precisely to “do the books” without the added complications involved in a full accounting system. We have found that bookkeepers take to More instantly. Often they have been using spreadsheets (and cannot therefore give you, their client, any management reports as they go along), or they have been using an accounting package which, in the absence of full data input, is giving inaccurate profit figures and is over-complicated.
We can set things up so that either the bookkeeper uses More in your office, or we can set up your bookkeeper with More on his/her own PC – it just depends where the bookkeeper is used to doing your books.
If the bookkeeper is doing your books at his/her home/office, we can even set up an additional version of More on your office (or home) PC. The bookkeeper can then back-up the More data to your PC and you will be able to see everything, including all the More reports, in the comfort of your office/home (This is truly mind-blowing for the business proprietor who has previously never had any idea of what is going on in “the books”).
This is a lot of information – can you just boil the steps down for me?
- We will give you a quick demo of More in our office (or at your premises on a laptop if you prefer) – showing you how the Training Business works and how you will then get your own tailored version of More. This meeting will also enable us to understand your business and therefore your bookkeeping and accounting requirements.
- If you then want to go ahead, we will give you the More Bookkeeping Software to set up on your PC.
- We will send you the Training Business over the internet.
- You then work through the Training Business – this should take an hour or two. (No-one has yet failed to complete the Training Business because of the helpful videos that are built into it).
- You send the completed Training Business back to us over the internet (simple click of a button)
- If you still like the look of More, then we will set up your own version tailored to your business. This will be sent to you over the internet (by this time you will be used to the seamless transfer of bookkeeping data to and from our office over the web)
- You will then have your version of More to use in your business.
- After a 90-day trial period there is a nominal Online Back-Up and Support fee to pay (£1 per week for a non-VAT Registered business or £2 per week for a VAT Registered business – payable annually in advance).
- Throughout this process you have access to the technicians at More if there are any IT problems, and support from us for all your bookkeeping queries.
- Armed with the More back-up data, we will prepare your annual accounts as well as being in a position to prepare Management Accounts for your business if you wish. We will also be able to see how you are doing during the year, rather that waiting until after the year-end when the “books” are brought in. Because the bookkeeping for your business is now being dealt with so efficiently, we will be able to provide you with a quote for annual accountancy services which will include many higher-level services such as tax planning that other accountants would have to charge extra for. To be honest, I don’t want to do any bookkeeping (but I might later)

- As in the case of some of our clients….you can simply bring in your bank statements, invoices etc each quarter and we will do the bookkeeping for you using More in our office. Because your bookkeeping will be on More, this means that at any time of your choosing (only if you want to) you can decide to use More Bookkeeping Software in your office. We would then set you up with More in the usual way and transfer the data file to you, which would include the full history of the all the bookkeeping to date (making it easier for you to follow what has already been done).
